UP placed in the top 38% in the 2019 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings. It was 384th among the 1,011 institutions from 85 countries that were ranked. It also maintained its position as the Philippines’ leading university, despite dropping 17 places from 2018. UP scored particularly well in employer reputation at 49.6 . In which subject areas did UP publish more?

Every year, UP generates more international journal articles and scholarly books and book chapters across fields of study. But which subject areas have more publications than others? According to Scopus, almost half of UP’s publications in indexed scientific journals, books and conference proceedings in the last 100 years were in agriculture and biological sciences, and medicine. Of the 10,835 publications of UP from 1911 to 10 May 2018, 24.5 percent were research papers in agriculture and biological sciences while 23.5 percent were related to medicine. A group of graduate students from the MA Asian Studies program of UP Diliman is in Korea for the eight-day Korea Study Tour organized by the UP Korea Research Center (KRC), a unit under the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs. UP rises to top 50% of ranked universities from emerging economies

London-based publication Times Higher Education (THE) has placed the University of the Philippines in the top 50 percent of the 2018 Emerging Economies Universities Rankings. UP has been ranked 166th, a massive leap from its 201st-250th position among 300 universities in 2017. It is the only Philippine university in this year’s list which includes 378 universities from 42 countries. The University of the Philippines is a major producer of scientific articles in the country. In the last 18 years alone, UP published over 7000 articles in prestigious journals, all refereed.
