The University of the Philippines, through the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, is hosting the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance Chief Quality Officers’ (AUN-QA COOs) Meeting 2019 tomorrow, 6 March, at UP Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
The AUN-QA Network promotes the improvement of academic quality of universities in ASEAN through quality assurance and harmonized standards. It is composed of COOs appointed by the 30 AUN member universities from 10 ASEAN countries. AUN-QA activities are carried out in accordance with the Bangkok Accord of 2000 which stipulates the guidelines in developing a quality assurance system for maintaining, improving and enhancing teaching and research in AUN member universities.
Every year, the COOs meet to discuss the relevance and dynamics of AUN-QA systems and mechanisms. This year, the meeting will include items such as the reassessment process and the AUN-QA associate membership enlargement policy. (Download the program here.)
Among the AUN-QA certified programs in UP are the BS Biology, BS Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, BS Development Communication, BS Forestry and BS Agriculture programs of UP Los Baños, the basic medical degree program of UP Manila and the BS Biology program of UP Diliman. The certification guarantees that the programs adhere to international academic standards and are on a par with similar programs in leading universities in the region.
UP is one of only three AUN member universities from the Philippines.
Before the meeting, AUN-QA held a two-day international conference focused on outcomes-based education and AUN-QA quality culture in practice. The conference was organized in partnership with AUN member De La Salle University.
