Reproductive effects of the water-accommodated fraction of a natural gas condensate in the Indo-Pacific reef-building coral Pocillopora damicornis. Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety 74: 2268-2274.
Toxic effects of the water-accommodated fraction (WAF ) of a natural gas condensate on the reproduction of the brooding coral Pocillopora damicornis were studied in short term (24 H ) laboratory experiments. Coral fragments exposed to varying concentrations to condensate WAF during different reproductive phases

Nutrient inputs from submarine groundwater discharge on the Santiago reef flat, Bolinao Northwestern Philippines. Marine Pollution Bulletin (2011). 63(5-12):195-200
This research highlights the nutrient contribution of submarine groundwater discharge (SGD) into the Santiago reef flat in Bolinao, Pangasinan which is a well-known site for on-going reef-restoration efforts. Previous studies had shown that SGD Could bring nutrients and freshwater into the coastal waters, sometimes exceeding contributions from those of the rivers. For an area such as the Santiago reef flat, excessive nutrient and freshwater inputs is a concern since corals do not thrive well in high-nutrient and brackish water conditions. Based on the results of this study, SGD-derived nutrient fluxes are substantial and Could enhance algal growth which would potentially be detrimental to the corals. SGD-derived nutrients could come from land-derived wastes that seep into the groundwater. Increase in population and changes in land-use will likely enhance the level of SGD-derived nutrients which may frustrate present and future restoration efforts.
