14 new titles to be launched by the UP Press

Fourteen books will be formally introduced to the public by the University of the Philippines Press (UP Press) in its forthcoming “Paglulunsad” on 27 May 2016 at Balay Kalinaw, UP Diliman. These include the selected works of National Artists Cirilo F. Bautista and F. Sionil Jose, whose earlier books had also been published by the UP Press, as well as other collections and literary pieces from some of our seasoned essayists, poets and fictionists. Asian Scientist list salutes the achievements of three UP researchers

Three UP researchers were among the five Filipinos honored in the first “Asian Scientists 100” list. It was released by The Asian Scientist, a Singapore-based publication that aims to bring awareness to quality research being done around Asia.  Placing ninth was UP Professor Emeritus Edgardo Gomez, the founding director of the UP Marine Science Institute (MSI). He was named National Scientist in 2014 in recognition of his sterling contributions and achievements as a researcher, scientist, conservation advocate, and mentor in invertebrate biology and ecology, giant clam culture and restoration, and coral reef assessment and conservation.
