UP improves ranking among universities in Asia

The 2019 QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) Regional Rankings for Asia released yesterday, October 24th, showed improved results for the University of the Philippines. Jumping three places from last year’s ranking, the national university placed 72nd among 503 institutions and was among the top 15 percent of the best Asian universities. UP’s strength was still employer reputation as it retained its 33rd position regionally. Institutions providing the best professionals were listed according to a survey that collected over 43,000 responses from employers around the world. Around 400 members of the research, extension and professional staff (REPS) from the University’s different constituent universities are at the UP System-wide REPS Conference 2018 to review the contributions of REPS to UP’s vision and mission, and discuss the issues and concerns of the REPS as a sector. UP continues upward trend in world rankings; joins top 5 from Southeast Asia

The University of the Philippines moved up once again in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. Securing a place in the 501-600 bracket, it joined universities from Singapore and Malaysia in the top 5 from Southeast Asia. UP has consistently made progress in the rankings since its entry in 2017. Before breaking into the top 600 for 2019, it climbed to 601-800 in 2018 from its inaugural 801-1,000 position.
