Short write-up of one’s participation (to be used to feature/publicize the grantee’s participation in the conference)
The International Conference on Computational Physics held at the National University of Singapore last January 7-11, 2015 was the 9th in the series, which started in 1988. Each day of the conference began with two plenary lectures, one from a computational physicist and another from an applied mathematician. Beginning mid-morning until late afternoon were several mini-symposia consisting of invited and contributed oral presentations. A poster session was also held in the evening of the second day. The goal was to create a platform for computational physicists, applied mathematicians, materials scientists and engineers to share their work as well as exchange ideas. Out of the 611 registered participants, five were from the Philippines. I attended the conference with Dr. Cristine Villagonzalo and Denny Lane Sombillo, faculty of the the National Institute of Physics (NIP) in UP Diliman, Carlos Baldo III and Neris Ilano, graduate students at NIP and members of the Structure and Dynamics Group (SAND).
