Write up about the Conference

The AILA World Congress, which is held every three years, was attended by more that 1,600 delegates from various parts of the world. The topics discussed in the plenary and parallel sessions ranged form the teacher education and development, language teaching, multilingualism, intercultural communication. sociolinguistics, pragmatics, to discourse analysis.

Feedback on paper presented

The paper presented was well-received. Questions raised during the open forum  were queries on transcription and on some aspects of the methodology which is virtual ethnography.

Future directions of research presented

Possible publication by US-China Education Review published by David Publishing Company, New York is being considered.

Short write-up of one’s participation (to be used to feature/publicize the grantee’s participation in the conference)

The grantee was one of the three delegates from the University of the  Philippines Over 2,300 abstracts were received by the AILA Scientific Program Committee but only about 1,000 abstracts were accepted by poster and oral presentation. My research was orally presented on August 15, 2014. The grantee recently received an invitation from the David Publishing Company to publish the research in the US-China Education Review, a peer review reviewed multidisciplinary periodical.
