Call for proposals: 2020 MOFA Taiwan Fellowship

The Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) calls for research proposals from across the globe, including the Philippines, for the 2020 MOFA Taiwan Fellowship. The MOFA Taiwan Fellowship was established to award financial assistance/subsidies to foreign experts and scholars interested in researches related to Taiwan, Cross-Strait relations, Asia-Pacific region and Sinology to conduct advanced research at universities or academic institutions in Taiwan.

Now, Taiwan is gaining more recognition as a research destination for foreign scholars as a product of Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy, promoting to strengthen ties with its neighboring countries through more people-to-people exchanges in certain fields such as trade, tourism, and most importantly education. Taiwan’s friendly, safe, modern, convenient and dynamic environment contributes to how it is considered as one of the best environment for scientists and researchers because of the world-class facilities and academic resources they offer.

The MOFA Taiwan Fellowship is open for foreign professors, associate professors, assistant professors, post-doctoral researchers, doctoral candidates, or doctoral program students at related departments of overseas universities, or are research fellows at an equivalent level in academic institutions abroad.

Faculty members are encouraged to submit their research proposals focusing on the theme of Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy, including the programs or policies implemented and their effects and impacts to the countries involved. Other research topics may also gear towards the fields of Area Studies, Asian Area Peace and Stability, Regional Trade or Commercialized Mechanism, Gender Equality, etc.

The MOFA Taiwan Fellowship is open for applications starting in May and June every year and recipients will conduct their research in Taiwan as early as January the next year.

Filipino applicants must accomplish the online application before 15 June 2019. Submit all the requirements to TECO Education Division located at 41F, Tower 1, RCBC Plaza, 6819 Ayala Avenue, Makati City 1200 before 20 June 2019.
