UP Artists for 2016-2018, 2017-2019 and 2018-2020

The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs is pleased to announce the recipients of the UP Arts Productivity System (APS) awards for 2016-2018, 2017-2019 and 2018-2020.

The University has 1 UP Artist I and 6 UP Artists II for 2016-2018; 4 UP Artists I, 8 UP Artists II and 1 UP Artist III for 2017-2019; and 28 UP Artists I, 16 UP Artists II and 10 UP Artists III for 2018-2020.

The fine arts have the most number of recipients at 25, or roughly one-third of the total 74. Music and the literary field have 15 and 12 artists, respectively. Theater (6); film (4); radio, television and emerging electronic media (4); and dance (1) are likewise represented in the roster. Work in multiple media (7) is also recognized.

The vast majority of the UP Artists are faculty members at UP Diliman and the rest are from UP Baguio, UP Los Baños, UP Manila and UP Visayas.

The APS, established by the Board of Regents in December 2008 as the counterpart for the arts of the UP Scientific Productivity System, aims to encourage outstanding productivity in the creative arts or in arts scholarship for national development. UP confers the title “UP Artist” on the awardee, along with a monetary prize given annually: P150,000 for UP Artist I; P200,000 for UP Artist II; and P250,000 for UP Artist III.
