The Philippine Korean Studies Symposium (PKSS) since its first organization in 2012 has provided a forum for Korean studies scholars and educators in the Philippines to gain and exchange new knowledge and share their insights on Korea. The objectives of PKSS are: (1) to promote academic research on Korea-related studies by Filipino scholars here and abroad, (2) to strengthen Korean studies as area studies, and (3) to develop networks with both local and international institutions.
PKSS aims to feature the potential of Korean studies by providing vital information through quality research. We are inviting scholars working on Korea or Philippine-Korean relations to submit abstracts:
Topics may be within the scope, but are not limited to the following domains of Korean studies:
– Language, Culture, and the Arts
– Diaspora, Gender, and Ethnicity
– History, Society, and Education
– Business, Economics, and Law
– Urban, Environment, and Spaces
– Politics, Governance, and International Studies
– Moon Administration’s “New Southern Policy” and ASEAN

Important dates:
– Deadline for abstract submission: 20 June
– Notification of Acceptance: 12 July
– Submission of FULL PAPER: 30 October
– 6th PKSS: 21-23 November
– Submission of revised paper: 13 December
The symposium is organized by the UP Korea Research Center, a unit under the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, and the UP Diliman Department of Linguistics.
