The 2019 cycle of Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos Award is now open for nominations. Four teachers will be recognized for their initiatives and concrete contributions to the development of their sector and communities.

For 2018, Dr. Carla B. Dimalanta, professor at the National Institute of Geological Sciences of UP Diliman, was selected for the award among hundreds of nominees. The decision was made by different sectors of society. Dimalanta is the only female exploration geophysicist in the Philippines with a doctoral degree. She was recognized for her academic accomplishments as well as her overwhelming desire to provide students with an appreciation of geophysics, a highly technical branch of science. Dimalanta is also UP’s Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs (Research). Read more about her win here.
