Faculty members called to register in Google Scholar to update list of top Philippine scientists
In a memorandum issued recently, Vice President for Academic Affairs Gisela P. Concepcion encouraged faculty members to register and create their Google Scholar profile “so that the current list of UP scientists with citations could be updated and corrected in future editions of the Cybermetrics Lab ranking.” Last month, Cybermetrics Lab has announced the list of top 250 scientists in Philippine institutions. One hundred sixteen (116) of those who landed on the list are affiliated with UP, with UP Manila-based scientists occupying the top spots. The College of Music is proud to present a concert of Philippine original solo piano music from the end of the Spanish colonial period to the time of the first Philippine republic in 1960s. The election took place at the Academy’s 26th General Meeting in Vienna, Austria on 19 November 2015. TWAS is a global science academy based in Trieste, Italy that seeks to recognize, support and promote excellence in scientific research in developing countries. Founded by Abdus Salam, a Pakistani physicist and Nobel laureate, it consists of distinguished scientists from the developing world. Annual symposium brings together UP researchers from diverse disciplines
More than 50 oral presentations were given during the 2015 OVPAA Research Symposium organized by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA). Held on November 12 and 13 at the Intel Center for Science Innovation Auditorium of the National Institute of Physics in UP Diliman, the symposium featured the results of research projects under the OVPAA-administered Emerging Interdisciplinary Research (EIDR) and Balik PhD programs. Tribute in UP celebrates the life and work of Nobel laureate Richard Heck
The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs in collaboration with the UP Diliman Institute of Chemistry held a tribute for Nobel laureate Richard F. Heck on 22 October 2015. Heck, who shared the 2010 Nobel Prize in Chemistry with Ei-ichi Negishi and Akira Suzuki for palladium-catalyzed cross couplings in organic synthesis, died in the Philippines on October 10 after years of illness. 2015 OVPAA Research Symposium to feature over 50 projects
Almost a year ago, the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA) organized a symposium to disseminate the results of 18 OVPAA-supported projects. The tradition continues this year with the 2015 OVPAA Research Symposium scheduled for November 12 and 13 at the Intel Center for Science Auditorium of the National Institute of Physics, UP Diliman.
